5 Backpack Snacks For Busy Bikers 🎒

Cycling builds a strong appetite, and often city cyclists find themselves needing a snack when they’re on the go. Riding between errands or to rack up Angel points can mean you’re out for a long while or you might head out for an unknown amount of time. 

 

These snacks will survive the day in your backpack so you have something there when hunger strikes.

 

Nut Butter & Jelly Sandwich 🥪

This childhood favorite is a simple solution to satisfying your cycling hunger. Spreading your favorite nut butter and jelly or jam on two slices of bread will create everyone’s favorite portable, quick, and filling snack. Tried and true, the ‘PB&J’ is a perfect punch of protein, carbs, and healthy fats to get you going until your next meal.

 

No Bake Cookies 🍪

These wholesome favorites combine oats, chocolate, and peanut butter in an easy-to-make drop cookie that packs protein, carbs, and healthy fats into a tasty cookie. Try mixing in nuts or chunks of banana to maximize the nutritional power. 

 

Nut & Seed Mix 🌰

Nuts and seeds are packed with protein and healthy fats as well as many minerals and vitamins to replenish your body after a day behind the handlebars. Mixing in seeds with your usual nut blend is a fantastic way to amp up the nutritional value of this snack while adding in a ton of unexpected flavor. Some seeds to try: sesame, sunflower, flax, chia, 

 

Cereal Bars or Bombs 🥣

Whether you make your own or buy them, cereal bars are always a good option when you need solid nourishment on the go! Typically packed with protein and carbs, you can find a combination of flavors or ingredients that satisfies any cravings you have. Try puffed rice, nuts, fruit, chocolate, and other candies in the mix.  

 

Frozen Applesauce 🍎

We’ve all turned to applesauce when we have a snack attack, but freezing pouches of this treat takes things to the next level. The pouches come in a variety of flavors to really create a sorbet-like experience.  This icy treat will cool you down and provide an easy carb-filled snack to keep you going. Place the frozen pouches in a drink koozie or other cooler to keep them icy when on the go!  

 

Throw a couple of these in your pack on your way out the door, and you’ll be able to fuel your body when you're cycling the city!
