Celebrate Earth Day with Citi Bike on Open Streets in NYC! Since 2016, NYC DOT’s Open Streets: Car-Free Earth Day has been reclaiming the roads for cyclists and pedestrians by transforming heavily-trafficked city streets into public plazas for pedestrians, cyclists, and local businesses to connect and envision new possibilities. With seven signature locations and 31 total plazas throughout the five boroughs, this year’s route features presentations, workshops, activities, art, and performances—accessing more than 1,000 miles of NYC's Bike Network. Each plaza features a different city agency, community organization, or local business presenting information about local, environmental, and sustainability topics as well as creative exhibits and performances. The seven signature locations are: Willis Avenue at East 47 Street to East 148 Street in the Bronx Troutman Street at St. Nicholas Avenue to Irving Avenue in Brooklyn Dykman Street at Broadway to La Marina in Manhattan St. Nicholas Avenue at West 181 Street to West 190 Street in Manhattan Broadway at East 17 Street to West 42nd Street in Manhattan Woodside Avenue at 76 Street to 79 Street in Queens Minthorne Street at Bay Street to Victory Boulevard in Staten Island.
