In 2021, we launched this community with less than 100 Bike Angels from NYC who ride with Citi Bike to understand how Angels would interact here and what we can learn from the community. Today, the community has grown to more than 1900 members, and we have Angels from outside NYC represented in the community. We’re pumped to share that we’re expanding the community to create a space where Bike Angels from cities across the U.S. can connect and find answers. Did you know there are about 50,000 Angels in NYC, but that's only 71% of all Angels? What’s changing? We’re inviting about 14,000 new Bike Angels to join in the conversation here. One thing to note: Angels from different cities have different experiences with their bikeshare system and the Bike Angels program. For instance, Bike Angels in Chicago can earn points for moving scooters, too! And, rewards offered differ by city—check out the links at the bottom of our homepage. When chatting, keep in mind that you may be replying to someone with a slightly different experience with their bikeshare system or the game. How can I help build the community? As founding members of the Bike Angels Community, you all have set the pace for how we’ll communicate here. New members may need some help along the way, and of course, we’ll make them feel welcome. If you spot duplicate threads or irrelevant replies, kindly steer members in the right direction to help keep the community productive and organized.174Views5likes0CommentsUpdate about APIs

What’s Next? 🌆🚴 More FAQS! Often community conversations are about niche issues with the program. Bank your points and choose your rewards—points won’t expire or reset each month. Wait no more! The new redemption structure is here, and all Citi Bike Bike Angels will now manually redeem rewards in their app. With 42k active Angels in New York alone, Bike Angels are a diverse group. Angels ride for a variety of reasons, and different rewards appeal to different Angels. In response to feedback from Angels who told us they wanted more control over the rewards they earn, we’ve updated the way Angels get rewards. Monthly rewards won’t automatically be redeemed. Instead, your points will be added to your points bank indefinitely and won’t expire. You’ll use points from your points bank to redeem the rewards you want. This change came with a refreshed Bike Angels profile! Use your points to shop for rewards in the Bike Angels profile of your app by clicking one of the rewards under ‘Bike Angels Rewards’ to reveal the option to purchase. FAQ Q: When do the points reset? A: With the points bank, your points total won’t reset each month. You can bank your points and redeem the prizes you prefer on your own schedule. Q: How do I use my points? A: View your points total in your Bike Angels Profile, and click on a reward icon to reveal the option to purchase. Q: How do I view my claimed rewards? A: To see a breakdown of the current rewards you have, visit the Bike Angels profile and click ‘View my rewards’. You will need to update your app to the most recent versionto see these changes. Q: How will I get my cash rewards? A: You’ll receive an email with a link to claim your cash or gift card rewards for a given month within the first 10 days of the following month. Pillar has landed in New York. Have you found one in the wild? Lyft’s new docks are popping up in cities across the country, and New Yorkers are already seeing Pillar in a few locations. Developed to be seamlessly integrated into the cityscape, Pillar is independently powered, independently connected, and charges bikes right at the dock providing a more sustainable way to ensure bikes are ready to get riders where they’re going. This change also makes dock placement more flexible. Check out more about the new docks in Rev’s video debuting Pillar here. FAQ Q: How do bike keys work with Pillar? A: Find the NFC reader on the right of the Pillar dock, and tap your key on the reader to unlock. Q: Pillar docks both bikes and scooters—are Lyft scooters coming to New York? A: Pillar is designed for versatility and can charge both bikes and scooters. Lyft scooters aren’t currently available in New York, but New York riders will immediately benefit from Pillar’s other features like station efficiency and location flexibility.Jess11 months agoBike Angels Team384Views1like6CommentsFrom Rev | Answering the Question: Where are the EBikes?

UPDATE: This backlog was resolved in June 2023. Hello Angels, We know there are many Angels that have claimed Steady Pedaler Rewards but haven’t yet received them, and we wanted to share what we know about the status of Steady Pedaler reward orders. Simply put, fulfillment of orders for Steady Pedaler rewards (bike key and pin) is paused until we receive shipment of more bike keys. Shipping of backlogged orders will resume once we have keys on hand. We aim to resume shipping as soon as possible, and will update this post with any news. We understand that receiving rewards should be easy and delightful, but we’re experiencing ongoing supply chain challenges that have made sourcing RFID chips for these Bike Angels’ keys tough. Our teams are working diligently to resolve this issue. If you’re waiting on a Steady Pedaler reward that you claimed, your order is secured on our waiting list, and these orders will ship as soon as Bike Angels rewards keys are available. No other rewards are impacted by this. If you’ve claimed rewards from other tiers that you didn’t receive, please connect with our Support Team in your app menu under Help > Bike Angels > Contact Us.BikeAngelsTeam2 years agoCommunity Manager804Views3likes4CommentsSummer Weather Survival Guide
The summer heat has reached its peak, as has the importance of preparing for the weather. We got you—this quick list makes hot weather rides a breeze! Sunglasses 🕶️ A wide frame with a lens that protects from UV rays should do the trick to protect from the sun, wind, and debris. Polarization is a no-go, as there are situations where cyclists will need to see glare. Amber tinted lenses are ideal to provide protection in a low sun, city environment. Wicking clothing 🎽 Polyester or nylon wicking fabrics help keep cyclists cool and dry when things warm up. These fabrics can be light enough to allow for a breathable experience, while still offering some skin protection from friction. Skin protection 🧴 Sunscreen or sunblock is a non-negotiable. Your skin is your largest organ. You’ve got to protect it. If you’ll be outside, sunscreen is a must. Everyone has their own needs when it comes to skin protection, but the FDA has a list of tips to help make sense of things like reapplication and ingredients. Hydration 💦 Cycling in the summer heat requires an increase in hydration. Since you’re exercising in higher temps, you’ll need to make sure you stay aware of your water intake. Always carry water with you, and make note of places you can stop to refill. Eating juicy summer foods like zucchini, cucumber, and tomatoes will also help ensure you’re hydrated before you hit the road. Snacks 🍎 Similarly, watermelon and pineapple are tasty, healthy treats you can take in your backpack for a boost of clean energy that also helps maintain hydration. Frozen applesauce can be another refreshing way to replenish. Dried fruit and peanut butter can provide a bit more sustenance, while gummy bears and chips will suffice to provide a bit of fuel to finish the ride.Jess2 years agoBike Angels Team600Views0likes0CommentsSummer Streets Starts This Saturday

Our first AMA is scheduled for 6/21 - 6/28—We’re gearing up to chat with you and answer questions! This AMA will be more slow-paced than a standard AMA and will last a full week. With a growing audience, we want to allow time for community members to share the AMA with their friends and also use the program while contributing to the thread. The Bike Angels Team will check in here throughout the week to respond to questions. Some questions posted that weekend might take a bit longer to receive a response. We’re pumped to have this meetup to connect directly with Bike Angels! To ensure the conversation is effective, we ask that your comments and posts are courteous, concise, and mindful of our Community Guidelines. Time flies, and so does our new ebike! With an improved motor and longer battery life than the original ebike, the next-gen ebike provides a smoother ride and can travel up to 60 miles on a single charge. So, after a year, how are New Yorkers enjoying the new ride? With more than 7 million rides since its launch last May, the number of next-gen bike rides each month nearly doubles the number of rides on the original ebike, with roughly the same number of each type of bike in our fleet—that’s about 10 rides per ebike, per day!Jess2 years agoBike Angels Team124Views0likes0CommentsGet Answers Directly from the Bike Angels Team
Get Answers Directly from the Bike Angels Team The Bike Angels Team is active in this community with members of our team monitoring and answering topics frequently. But, we’ve noticed some niche questions and feedback popping up, and some Angels that answered our survey expressing they’d like to connect with members of the Bike Angels Team more directly. So, we’re hosting a Bike Angels Community AMA! 🎉 An AMA, or Ask Me Anything, is a Q&A event that connects an audience with key members of their community. Our AMA will create a dedicated time and place for Angels to directly ask the Bike Angels Team questions. We’ve invited program and product experts and seasoned Bike Angels that are on the Citi Bike Team to answer your questions. Join us the week of June 21st - 28th to ask questions to the Bike Angels Team directly. We’ll post another update with full details about the event by June 14th. Keep track of your questions in the meantime!June Cruiseletter
