Low down on the slow down

Don’t understand why you lowered of the Cosmo electric bikes speeds – even though the city has not actually passed a 15 mph limit, you want ahead and lowered them. Citibike riders are probably not the majority of the problem, it’s delivery bikes that go flying down the street or sidewalks at over 15 mph, or scooters zipping in bike lanes at 30 miles an hour. Or cars speeding.

It’s really frustrating when I’m riding an E bike and someone on a classic flies past me, or when I’m trying to get up a bridge and I feel that speed governor kick in, or come down the other side and feel like I’m dragging a parachute behind me. Oh wait, lowering the speed by over 8% means that it takes me 8% longer to get to my destination, which means my ride is 8% longer, which makes you 8% more money…

And why is it so hard to log into to this site to post? Why can’t I just enter my login and password- instead I have to enter my cell phone, get a text, copy & paste that code, enter my e-mail, click Accept – it’s a lot easier to log into my bank website than it is to post something here!

Exactly!  Why isn't the information available to access online (on a screen large enough to scroll and open up a second window...so you don't have to keep scrolling down a long list of previous rides to figure out where the incorrect charges were made.  And yes, the politicians have it all wrong.  The accidents have nothing to do with bike speed, they are often caused by cabs double parked in bike lanes, messengers who do not comprehend the rules of the road, cops who do not signal and run red lights, garbage trucks who block bike lanes and run red lights, and pedestrians that are too busy looking at their phones to notice they are walking in the bike lanes.  And let's not forget the trash that people leave in the bikes, the stupid white rubber dividers that the trucks run over (which we then trip on) and the drunk riders who carry their friends in their baskets (so they are broken when others need them for grocery transportation).  Why aren't the cops ticketing them?  Isn't that more of a problem than the speed limit?

I hear you. Value  and ride experience has diminished. Lyft, Uber, DoorDash etc are big political contributors in NYC. This is a win win for Lyft. They stay on the good side of an administration for other business wins while making more money per ride on CB riders.
