No more ACH payments
In reading the fine print when accepting my reward from Tremendous yesterday, I see: Please note: your redemption options are changing in the coming year. Starting February 2025, you will be able to redeem your points for gift cards at Amazon, Walmart, Doordash, and Delta. We’re also adding the option to redeem your points for donations to a number of charities. ACH transfer will no longer be available. Can you please explain exactly how this change will work, since you have failed to officially notify us of the change, as usual. Does this mean that for rides we take in January, which in theory would redeemed at the end of January, and rewards given in February, for those we will no longer be able to take the ACH option? Does it mean that starting in February, those rides will not be able to be redeemed for cash? What if our December payments are delayed past January, into the beginning of February, does that mean rides taken (and points accrued) under the current system will not be able to be able to be redeemed for cash? Also, what prompted this change? Does Lyft feel cutting out the Bike Angels will save them enough money so they can hire more employees to do the work we now do? I think most other Bike Angels would appreciate more information and clarification on this drastic change in the program. Thanks.239Views2likes8CommentsSo November Cash Payments are Delayed?
Nearing the end of November and still haven’t received payment for points redeemed in October. Payments seem to be delayed the past deqmontjs according to some of the comments I’ve seen in this chat. They need to fix it. It’s disincentive for me and probably other Bike Angels to be out there hustling to earn points. Lyft/Citibike need to resolve this issue.Solved1.8KViews3likes103CommentsSo There are System-Wide Outages at Docks in Manhattan?
I've been unable to take bikes out at stations in Midtown beginning with Broadway and W. 37th Street and had no luck at Park Avenue South and East 30th either. Just saw the message about system-wide delays. Hope this gets fixed before Rush Hour. I tried calling the CS number but got no answer.Solved62Views2likes2CommentsMissing Lifetime Rewards
Is Citibike ever going to do anything about its failure to actually provide the lifetime rewards it claims to offer? I got to Steady Pedaler statues well over 6 months ago and never received the reward in the mail. I spoke to customer service who, as always, were completely unable to help. Will this ever get resolved or is just another example of something Citibike claims to offer and then systematically fails to deliver on?70Views0likes2CommentsFiling W9 for someone else's account
Weird question. I was in New York and using my friends citibike account. Started doing bike angels and ended up making $600. My friend is now worried she will have to pay taxes on it. They money I have gotten so far is $200 and went into my paypal. I told her to just submit MY W9 instead of hers (since the money is going to me anyway) even though the account is in her name. Anyone else have experience with this and if so was there any problem? Thanks.54Views0likes1CommentTwo Questions
I was trying to check when was the last time that I redeemed a reward. (Usually, I just trade in every 10 points for 10 ebike minutes rather than saving them up.) It doesn't seem like there is any record, though. Like, I wish it would text or email when you redeem so that I could go back and check when it happened. Or... hold the record in the app. It just has a list of past rewards with no timestamp. Do you know how to see the various times you have redeemed? Thanks in advance :) Question #2 - same as someone else... do we know when the pins and things are coming? Feels like it takes quite a long time50Views0likes1CommentE-gift card redemption
I submitted in October 2024 for Citibike angel 1000 points for $200 E-gift card redemption. However, I have not received an email as of this writing. Can you please look into this matter? When I used to get a monthly redemption, I would get an email the first week of following month for the previous month's redemption. Thank you.99Views0likes2CommentsWhen are drop off points calculated, pick up or drop off?
Hi, I have been a CitiBike Angel since late summer, and my understanding of the point system has been that points are determined at the time I check out a bike. Specifically, if a docking station is worth +3 points when I check out the bike, I would still earn those 3 points even if the station’s status changes (e.g., to -3) during my ride. However, I’ve noticed discrepancies in practice. It seemed like every day I was being informed that I had dropped off at a “pick-up” station, resulting in lost multipliers and no points. I assumed this was due to crossing the 15-minute threshold and the app not updating quickly enough to reflect the station’s status accurately. After exchanging emails with CitiBike support, I’ve been informed (see below) that point assignments are actually based on the status of the docking station at the time of drop-off, not pick-up. This directly conflicts with what many of my fellow Angels on Reddit insist is the correct understanding. CitiBike Support Response (2nd clarification): Thank you for reaching out and sharing your understanding of how the station status and point assignments should work. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify this process for you. The point assignments and station status are indeed based on the conditions at the time the bike is docked, not when it is initially checked out. This means if the station transitions to a “pick-up” status during your ride, the system will reflect that change when the bike is returned. I understand how this might feel inconsistent with what you were told previously, especially if this has led to unexpected outcomes during your rides. Your feedback highlights the importance of ensuring clear communication about how our system works. I’ll make sure this is passed along to our team for review. If you’d like, I can also assist in reviewing your recent rides to see if there’s any further explanation for the behavior you’ve observed. Just let me know! Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I’m here if you have any additional questions or concerns. I hope this clarification can help resolve the confusion and ensure that expectations are aligned with how the system currently operates.84Views0likes3CommentsWho is in the Right, Citibike Employee or Me??
The other day I was on my way to do some errands when I saw a great point opportunity in the Manhattan area. The drop of spot was a major hub that needed bikes for after work riders, so was awarding 12 points. So I went out of my way and dropped my bike off there scoring a good point combo. After docking I saw they were still awarding 12 points for drop off. A quarter mile away, a station was awarding high points to pick up. It was a nice night so I decided to do the combo to get some great points. When I got back to the major CB hub, I docked the bike. All of a sudden an irate Citibike employee working as a concierge came up to me and said if I continued to do BikeAngels there he was going to suspend my BikeAngels membership. I was taken back, since this is the first time in 5ish years doing BA, that a concierge ever approached me like this, they have always been thankful for the help. The employee then went on to say that there were other BikeAngels dropping off bikes making his job hard. I said that I was only going by the points posted and though I was helping. He continued to get nasty, and I told him to take it up with Citibike if the point system is not reflecting a true supply/demand disruption that needs correction. Plus I told him he could have just asked me nicely instead of approaching in a belligerent way, I was not trying to cause him extra work. I then did my errands. Anyway has this ever happened to others? Thanks!Solved291Views1like12Comments
