Always check these things before you ride a Classic Bike: both hand brakes, tire pressure on both wheels (with a squeeze), bell, resistance when turning hand shifter, kickstand does not dangle, seat height, bungee cord on basket, turn the pedal backwards a few times to check for undue resistance. All of this takes about 60 seconds. Never forget to do this. Also, always pull on the bike somewhat firmly to make sure that it was docked properly before you begin to unlock.
Sometimes the cables on the shifter of a classic bike are put on in reverse so that when you twist for low gear going forwards you will go into high gear and vice versa. This is not really a big deal but it has been happening quite often lately.
