Please add map filter option to display classic bikes only.
The Divvy map filter has options to show ebikes only, scooters only, or all bikes. There is notably no option for showing classic bikes only. That would be a useful filter, to hide all the noise from ebikes and scooters from the map. Chicago is flat, many users will only take an ebike/scooter as a last resort if there is no classic bike available, because the classic bikes are free for members. This idea is not really specific to Bike Angels, but seems like as good a place as any to post it since there's no community for CitiBike, Capital Bikeshare, Divvy etc. anywhere else that I know. There's already a filter icon in the CaBi app, you tap it and your 2 options are: All bikes: Show all ebikes and classic bikes Ebikes: Only show e-assisted bikes Well, I prefer to ride the classic bikes, I know I'm in the minority in the world and ebikes are great and get more people bike commuting and all that, but I personally prefer pedaling for the exercise, plus the red bikes are way lighter to whip around, just more fun and I ride them 99% of the time. (Sometimes for sure I will take an ebike if I need to leave it undocked somewhere, or I'm late for a meeting and need to truck 5 miles uphill in a straight line.) Anyway I probably shouldn't be trying to explain that riding bikes is fun or that different people have different preferences and that's OK but that is what it boils down to. So anyway, maybe we could have a 3rd option in the app? Like: Classic bikes: Only show classic bikes I know it's not a gamechanger, but it would be cool for me, and I think for Bike Angels it also makes sense, sometimes you don't pay attention and end up somewhere where there are like 13 ebikes and no real ones. And I'll help out and rebalance ebikes too sometimes, but it doesn't really make sense to be spending $ or credits to do that, so most of the time I'm just looking to ride classic bikes. And it should be pretty low effort dev-wise, I mean the data is already there in the app, and adding a third option to this menu that slides up won't clutter the UX in anyway. Anyway that is my pitch for this feature! Of course any other ideas are welcome too. I think the app developers have done a great job on the level of detail on the map. It's shown at S Paulina St near the intersection of W Adams St and W Ogden Ave, but if you go there trying to get or park a bike, you won't find any station at all! The actual station is found on the North-West corner of Wood St & Walnut St (as the name suggests), which is about 15 minutes walk away. Incorrect location: 41.87862, -87.66913 Correct location: 41.88611, -87.67205 In database, please update the location of station "Wood St & Walnut St" (id 2116968075735593618).
Idea: Buy Citi Bike Key using Bike Angel points
I'd like Citi Bike to offer the ability to purchase a new Bike Key using Bike Angel points. I'm aware that the bike angels lifetime award for 1,500 points (Steady Pedaler) includes a free Bike Key and there's a one-time offer to order a Bike Key for Citi Bike members using a discount code available at https://account.citibikenyc.com/profile but I've already exhausted both of these options and want to purchase another one. The motivation for this idea came after technical issues I'm currently facing when trying to order a new bike key at https://store.citibikenyc.com/products/citi-bike-key resulting in the error message "There was an issue processing your payment. Try again or use a different payment method." even after trying 4 different credit and debit cards. I've submitted a separate support ticket for this issue. I'd suggest the price for a bike key to be 50 points given Lyft credit is $2.00 for 10 points and E-Bike credit is $2.50 for 10 points and a Bike Key costs $10 on the Citi Bike Store. Lastly, as a secondary comment: The turnaround time for bike key purchases is extraordinarily long for such a simple item (it can take several weeks to a few months based on my own experience and that of others) - I strongly urge Lyft to look for ways to decrease the processing and shipping times for bike key orders.Station is missing from the database
There is a Divvy "lightweight" station near the Lincoln statue at cnr N Western Ave & W Lawrence Ave. This station is not shown in the app! It's like it wasn't entered in the database. Here's a streetview link where this station is located: https://maps.app.goo.gl/E7AiZJmHwbxwsc1L6 And here's a photo from today, when I docked e-bike 213-0706 there: I was curious what would happen if a ride was ended there, since the system does not seem to be aware of the station existence. The consequence is that riders parking a bike there still get charged an "out of station" fee ($1.30), and the end address of the ride is just shown as a street address: This station should be added to the database so that everybody using the dock doesn't get dinged with an out of station fee. I’ve noticed a small glitch in push notifications after finishing a ride. See the screenshot attached. I completed ride #1, earned 9 points and my bank showed as 836 points. A few minutes later I completed ride #2, again earned 9 points but my bank total increased by 18 points (854 - 836.) I again earned 9 points for ride #3 but my bank balance stayed at 854. l don’t consider it to be a big deal as the error always self-corrects after the next ride or two and, more importantly, the point bank in the app always shows the proper amount. Using the above, after ride #2 my bank total should be 845 points, which is what the app shows. So the error is the number showing in the push notification, not in the app itself. It happens maybe once a month or so. I’m posting it as an FYI for other BAs as well as anyone on the tech team who wants a project.Undocked bikes obscure the station counts
Often when beginning a ride, it may be worth checking the destination dock to see if it has spaces available. For example, if there are no spaces available I'll take an e-bike (so it can be parked out of station), otherwise I'll take a classic bike. Unfortunately, when there are undocked bike(s) or scooter(s) placed very near the station location their icons overlap the station count. In some cases you can't actually see the bike/dock counts at the station, not even when zooming in completely in the app. It would be beneficial if the station icons can always be "top priority", so they can't be hidden by icons from undocked bikes/scooters. I'll attach some example app screenshots below, where you can't see the station information at Larrabee St & Kingsbury St because of the undocked bikes nearby. It sounds like a rare edge case, but actually this is a quite common occurrence at popular stations - they often have one or two undocked e-bikes near the station, presumably left there in rush hours when the station happened to be full. Please render the station information as top priority, placing undocked icons underneath so that the number of bikes/docks available is never hidden. Thanks!
