ability to always choose full assist or never
It'd be nice if the Android Bay Wheels app had a setting where I could set this behavior for when checking out a bike and there are no standard bikes in a dock: ask me every time (default) always choose full assist always choose no assist I find myself always picking one option and it'd be great to not have to do that. Thanks!5Views0likes1Commentshow always credits on the map screen
On the android bay wheels app I see that there's a little window that shows you your bike credits above the station window if you select a station; it'd be nice to have the option to always show that credits window whenever you're on the map screen.6Views0likes1CommentAdd stations in Treasure Island (Bay Wheels)
I noticed there are no stations on Treasure Island in the Bay Wheels network; it would be really cool to have one (or a few) there! You can ride bikes over the eastern span of the Bay Bridge (i.e. to Oakland/Emeryville) just not across the western span (yet!) (i.e. to SF).30Views0likes1CommentMaps showing Bay Wheels usage in SF
Neat article about where ppl are riding in SF https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/bay-wheels-bike-map-19972251.php "Top corridors for riders so far this year included stretches along the Embarcadero, through Golden Gate Park, Fisherman’s Wharf to the Presidio and the Caltrain station to the Dogpatch neighborhood." I've been meaning to ride through Golden Gate Park one of these days; that's a nice ride.16Views2likes0CommentsPoints distributions
I live and mostly bike in Oakland, CA. many days there are few points to be had anywhere. Contrast to San Francisco where there’s a points available everywhere. This hasn’t always been the case — and I assume there is various attempts to balance the algorithm, and that overall traffic numbers drive that One suggestion which might help a little bit is that stations with 1 or fewer open docks should always get extra points for taking something away. And completely empty stations should always offer extra. A full station are no bikes mean that someone isn’t going to land their bike there or even use a bike i have had many occasions where i’ve opened up a dock only to have it immediately filled. When points were distributed differently, I might go out of my way to help out. But with just 1 point on offer, I don’t. This should be a baseline not algorithmically determined, if you trully want to incentivize people helping out.25Views2likes1CommentWaterproof seat cover - source?
Hi all! It's starting to get rainy/dewy here in the bay area. I am looking for a waterproof seat cover to keep my butt from getting wet from the seat. I once got a freebie type w/ elastic borders that fit PERFECTLY around the BayWheels bike seats, but I have since lost it and have been using heavy duty plastic bags. Those work fine but less cute. Does anyone have a good source? Alternately, anyone up for making one and putting it on etsy?? I'd be a customer!25Views2likes1CommentA community for all Bike Angels
In 2021, we launched this community with less than 100 Bike Angels from NYC who ride with Citi Bike to understand how Angels would interact here and what we can learn from the community. Today, the community has grown to more than 1900 members, and we have Angels from outside NYC represented in the community. We’re pumped to share that we’re expanding the community to create a space where Bike Angels from cities across the U.S. can connect and find answers. Did you know there are about 50,000 Angels in NYC, but that's only 71% of all Angels? What’s changing? We’re inviting about 14,000 new Bike Angels to join in the conversation here. One thing to note: Angels from different cities have different experiences with their bikeshare system and the Bike Angels program. For instance, Bike Angels in Chicago can earn points for moving scooters, too! And, rewards offered differ by city—check out the links at the bottom of our homepage. When chatting, keep in mind that you may be replying to someone with a slightly different experience with their bikeshare system or the game. How can I help build the community? As founding members of the Bike Angels Community, you all have set the pace for how we’ll communicate here. New members may need some help along the way, and of course, we’ll make them feel welcome. If you spot duplicate threads or irrelevant replies, kindly steer members in the right direction to help keep the community productive and organized.242Views6likes0CommentsSpring Insights Blog
