I'm confused on this. Previously I had accumulated several dollars' worth of "Lyft" credits and when I used an ebike, I was charged for the ride. Is a Lyft credit applicable to ebike rides or not?
If not and I don't use a Lyft car ride, what is the benefit?

Depending on the type of offer, Lyft credits may have restrictions but the details can always be seen in the 'Rewards' tab of your app. Bike Angels credits should apply to all rides, including those taking on ebike. We've had a few reports of issues from other riders and our engineering team is working to straighten things out.
