Please remove public racks from the City Explorer
In the City Explorer view for Chicago, about half of the "Divvy stations" are not actually stations at all. They're just public bike racks. You can lock an ebike here without a fee, but you can't get or leave a classic bike. They shouldn't show up in the City Explorer. In the Lyft last mile API json (https://s3.amazonaws.com/lyft-lastmile-production-iad/lbs/chi/station_information.json) these are indicated with: "rack_model": "CITY_PUBLIC_RACK" And in the GBFS station information feed (https://gbfs.divvybikes.com/gbfs/en/station_information.json) they are indicated by: "station_type": "lightweight", "has_kiosk": false In the Graph QL API (https://account.divvybikes.com/bikesharefe-gql) they're also indicated as "lightweight", but so are e-bike only stations. Fortunately the station name always seems to start with "Public Rack", so they can still be distinguished by the name prefix e.g.: { "stationId": "motivate_CHI_1806749740082741752", "stationName": "Public Rack - Milwaukee Ave & Lawrence Ave", "location": { "lat": 41.967385, "lng": -87.760169, "__typename": "Location" }, "bikesAvailable": 0, "bikeDocksAvailable": 2, "ebikesAvailable": 0, "totalBikesAvailable": 0, "isValet": false, "isOffline": false, "isLightweight": true, "siteId": "", "ebikes": [], "lastUpdatedMs": 1682970704000, "__typename": "Station" } Here is a google maps example of what one of these "stations" looks like, i.e. it's just a city rack: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jmnHeaqnbtQ32QDM9 Please remove these from the map in the bike share mobile app. They're too many, too visually noisy, and not useful. Those city racks are almost always empty, so all they do is put a whole bunch of "Zero" pins on the map and obscure the real stations, like you can see in the screenshot below - the pin near the CTA station is a "real" bike share station, but all the zero pins on S Pulaski Rd are just public racks.106Views0likes1CommentWhy do my CitiBike keys wear out?
Hi Jess, Do Citi Bike keys have an estimated lifespan? At some point years ago I received a white key as a perk, and used it for at least five or six years before it suddenly stopped working exactly a month ago. Luckily, I still had my original blue key which I then started using, and I ordered a new key as a back up. Tonight as I was out doing Bike Angle rides, my old blue key stopped working as well. Luckily the new key came in the mail a few days ago so I switched over to that, but I’m wondering how long the brand new one might last, if I should get back up for that one now. BTW, my original blue key that died tonight looks brand new, so it’s not like it’s been abused in any way. Also, why can’t I just sign into this web page with my password? Why do I need to fill out my number to have Lyft send me a text with a number, then enter that number here? What is the point of password if I can’t use it? Thanks.Solved191Views2likes5CommentsBiketown 15 minute point calculation broken
Hi. I have submitted a bug directly to Lyft, but I just got a generic "bike angel 101" reply. Anyway, points are correctly shown on the map after the calculation on top of the hour and 30 past the hour. Points are NOT shown after the 15 & 45 minute calculation. Its simple to verify, just look for stations&bike after 00 and 30, then compare with what you see after 15&45. I have of course deleted&re-installed the app, and rebooted my iOS device, same thing. It might have happened after the "next gen" e-bikes&scooters were introduced this summer, but I was away at that time so can't say for sure if its related or not. Please escalate. Regarding the Joyriders 15-minute extension for classic bike rides. Remco previously wrote: "The Lyft Pink upsell/included benefits message is not aware of your Joyrider status. If you have Joyrider status, you'll get an additional 15 minutes on classic bike rides for both membership types." Link: Will Lyft Pink Access All Market? | Bike Angels I currently have the Joyrider perk and an All-Access Pass, and the Citibike app still shows a 45-minute ride limit, while the Divvy app correctly shows 60 minutes. Can you clarify this, please? Based on Remco's post, we thought the 45-minute limit was only reflected in the "Lyft Pink upsell/included benefits message," and once approved as a Lyft All-Access Pass member, the Citibike app would update to reflect the full 60 minutes. I understand that promotional messaging did not recognize my Joyrider status, but now that I'm a confirmed Lyft All-Access Pass member, shouldn't the Citibike app reflect the 60 minutes per Remco's explanation?Solved240Views0likes9CommentsCiti Bike app no longer shows ride completion notification
Sometime between Friday evening and Sunday morning, the Citi Bike app stopped notifying me, and showing me the points total earned, when I complete rides. I checked, and the phone is still set to allow notifications from Citi Bike, the app is still set to allow notifications, I have restarted the phone, I’ve made sure I have the latest version of the Citi Bike app – version 15.7 6.3, but for some reason after each ride I no longer get my end of ride notifications on the lock screen. Has something changed with the app, or the way it works? Is anyone else experiencing this? Using an iPhone, with iOS version 17.6.1. Jess' "Bike Angels Beginner FAQ" is a helpful addition to this forum, but it would benefit greatly (and is key to the Bike Angels experience) if it also addressed common problems and glitches people might encounter, along with options for resolutions (which are currently quite limited ). Aside from the expected technical issues, the real problem is the lack of support and the frustration of uncredited points. In the old days, they'd look it up, realize that an error was made, give you the points, and you move on. Those days are long gone. Lyft X ignores the facts and data presented, and refuses to explain why, then ignores any further communication. The phone support, while friendly, is now 100% unhelpful. They might keep you on the line for 30 minutes only to tell you the station was down, without crediting your points, and then refer you to email support. Aside from Jess, the email support is the best, but their communication is slow and cumbersome. Despite taking great care, I frequently lose points for legitimate rides and have given up on complaining. In Chicago, Divvy allows e-Bikes to be parked out of stations, and they're scattered all over the city. I track them down, often finding them in obscure locations. Returning these e-bikes to mainstream areas is crucial for the system’s health, but e-Bikes out of stations also carry the highest risk of not getting credited points. hore trail. Scooters are not allowed on the lakeshore trail. As you approach, the scooters automatically stops and people just leave the bikes there. It's a long, expensive ride back to a docking station.106Views3likes3CommentsIs There a Bike Angels Reward for Returning Abandoned Citibike?
Is there a reward through the Bike Angels program for returning abandoned Citibikes that are left outside of stations? If so, what is the process for doing this? I often see bikes left around, but given my tight schedule, it doesn’t seem worth the effort without a clear incentive. A way to scan them to know that they are truly abandoned and receive substantial points for returning them would be ideal.160Views3likes3CommentsPedal assist preference on ebike
In citibike help pages I see this info https://help.citibikenyc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039406631-Riding-with-an-ebike In instances where there are no classic bikes at a station, members can now rent one of our new, next-gen silver ebikes in “classic mode.” This means that you can rent this ebike for no extra charge, but there will be little to no e-assist for the ride. To make this choice, you’ll see a screen after scanning the QR code that allows you to choose between riding with full assist or riding with low assist. But in divvy (chicago) help pages, which otherwise looks pretty similar, it doesn't have that section https://help.divvybikes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046649911-Riding-with-an-ebike We have those same bikes as NYC, except they have a cable lock fitted for docking out of station. Is the low-cost ebike ride also possible in Chicago, riding with low assist? If so, how to select it? If not, why not?93Views1like3Comments
